"Filled with show me now and tell me later prose, [Miserere] was one of the finest debuts of 2011 and remains a novel that I remember details from nearly three years later." Justin Landon, Tor.com

i write dark fantasy

I write dark fantasy.

There are no pretty stories here.

No young adult protagonists.

No cozy utopic societies.

No non-stop swordfights.

Real life is far too messy and complicated for these things.

There will be some horror.

If you're squeamish and flap your hands at the sight of blood, blathering about dark and grim fantasy, don't bother with my stories.

There will be love.

If love is "emo" to you, don't read my stories.

There will be magic, because I like believing in magic. I don't want to hear your views on why religion is bad and magic is impossible. I'm not going to justify my likes and dislikes to you. If that makes you angry, piss off.

None of these things, horror, love, or magic, will be wrapped in a pretty package for your consumption.

You'll have to dig for some of it.

If you don't want to do that, then you're probably too young to be reading my books. That's okay. Go read something you will enjoy.

I write dark fantasy.

For adults.

There are no pretty stories here.

You definitely do write dark fantasy. Not quite horror, because of what you are trying to do with it, but dark fantasy without question.
